Големият разцвет на музиката и литературата в ренесансова Англия следва с няколко десетилетия закъснение познатите на цял свят имена, школи и образци от Италия и други краища на европейския континент. Същевременно културният възход на острова е толкова мащабен и значим, че записва себе си в историята като Елизабетински Златен век.
The great flourishing of music and literature in Renaissance England came several decades after the world-renowned names, schools, and artistic models of Italy and other parts of the European continent. Yet, the cultural rise of the island was so vast and significant that it marked history as the Elizabethan Golden Age.
Добре познати от този период са имената на Шекспир и Марлоу. Не по-малко забележителни по това време са редица музиканти, изградили самостоятелния и ярко разпознаваем облик на Англия. Без съмнение сред тях са Джон Дауланд, Томас Робинсън, Уилям Бърд, Томас Морли и много други, чиито имена днес не знаем, но имаме тяхната музика.
Концертът на Явор Генов разкрива картини от ренесансова Англия – епохата на Шекспир и кралица Елизабет, с музика за лютня от автори като Дауланд и Робинсън, но също така с множество анонимни творби от запазени ръкописи.
Well-known figures from this period include William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. Equally remarkable at the time were numerous musicians who shaped England’s distinctive and recognizable musical identity. Among them, without a doubt, are John Dowland, Thomas Robinson, William Byrd, Thomas Morley, and many others whose names we may not know today, but whose music has endured.
Yavor Genov’s concert brings to life scenes from Renaissance England—the era of Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth—featuring lute music by composers such as Dowland and Robinson, as well as numerous anonymous works preserved in historical manuscripts.

Явор Генов е лютнист и изследовател на музиката на Ренесанса. Има пет издадени солови албума за нидерландския лейбъл Brilliant Classics, оценени високо от международната критика. Концертира на едни от най-значимите сцени в Европа, сред които тези на Берлинска филхармония, Френска национална опера, Het Concertgebouw – Амстердам, Большой театр – Москва, Sir John Smith’s Square – Лондон. Учил е лютневи инструменти при Якоб Линдберг, а в последствие взима уроци и от Найджъл Норт.
Yavor Genov is a lutenist and a scholar of Renaissance music. He has released five solo albums under the Dutch label Brilliant Classics, all of which have received high praise from international critics. He has performed on some of Europe’s most prestigious stages, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the French National Opera, Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and St. John’s Smith Square in London. He studied lute with Jakob Lindberg and later took lessons from Nigel North.
