Изложбата на Дъстин Борк „passages“ представя картини, вдъхновени от пространствата, които артистът наблюдава във Велико Търново по време на едномесечния си престой в Iatrus Residency Program. Борк създава две различни серии двумерни живописни произведения. Първата предлага фрагменти от улични гледки и архитектурни детайли от града. Втората серия абстрактно препраща към мостови конструкции – почит към река Янтра и историята на промяната в региона.
In his exhibition„passages”, paintings are inspired by the spaces the artist observed in Veliko Tarnovo during his month-long residency at the Iatrus Residency Program. Bork created two distinct series of two-dimensional painted works. The first series offers representational glimpses of street views and architectural moments in Veliko Tarnovo. The other abstractly references bridge-like structures in homage to the Yantra River and the history of change in the region.
Двете серии противопоставят репрезентативното и абстрактното, за да рамкират визуалната среда наоколо и да насочат вниманието към гранични, преходни пространства в България. Проектът изследва цвета и пигмента във връзка със заобикалящата архитектура, като акцентира върху концепцията за физически и метафорични преходи.
These two series contrast representational and abstract forms to frame the surrounding aesthetic environment and draw attention to liminal spaces within Bulgaria. His project explores color and pigment concerning the built environment, emphasizing the concept of physical and metaphorical passages.
Роден през 1977 г. в Монро, Мичиган, САЩ, Дъстин Борк живее и работи в Бейтсвил, Арканзас. Завършва Stamps School of Art and Design към Мичиганския университет в Ан Арбър, както и Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design към Университета в Индиана, Блумингтън. От 2010 г. преподава визуални изкуства и история на изкуството в Lyon College, където е професор по изкуства и директор на галерия Kresge. Born in 1977 in Monroe, Michigan, in the United States, Dustyn Bork lives and works in Batesville, Arkansas, in the United States. Bork graduated from the Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design at Indiana University, Bloomington. He serves as Professor of Art at Lyon College, where he has taught courses in visual arts and art history since 2010, and is the Director of the Kresge Gallery.
