Join us on July 18th at 8 pm for the NEMA PARA talk by Pusha Petrov, an Iatrus Resident. The talk will be held in Bulgarian dialect from Dudeștii Vechi and English. Free entrance.

Pusha’s work explores intimacy, identity, and the quiet details of daily life. As a collector of hidden stories, she gives a second life to overlooked objects and spaces through site-specific interventions.
With foundational training in Timisoara and Metz, her recent journey includes commissions for the St. Gallen Textile Museum in Switzerland (2024) and being featured in the ELLES x PARIS PHOTO anniversary book. Whether exhibiting at Paris Photo, the Daegu Photo Biennale, or working with international curators, her goal remains the same: to reveal the profound poetry hidden within the mundane.
About the talk: As an artist, she loves exploring hidden stories, family rituals, but also the traditions of the Palćene community. She is thrilled to invite you to her upcoming residency presentation! This talk is a special chance to bridge her unique Bulgarian dialect from Dudeștii Vechi with my daily experiences here in Bulgaria.
The NEMA PARA talk
Pusha’s latest days in Veliko Tarnovo bring together two unexpected worlds: hair and home. She is taking a meticulous, traditional hand-craft technique normally used for hair extensions and applying it directly onto a broom—an object that holds a deep, almost “holy” and protective status in Bulgarian households.
By merging the intimacy of hair with the sacred nature of the broom, the work brings to light the relationship between body, ritual, and belonging, reflecting on inherited gestures and the fragile connections that shape our sense of home.
Come and meet “the new lady in town” (the broom)! Pusha will be doing her best to stage her in pictures all across the town and how it would be amazing to stage it in your home.
The event is part of the project Echo from the Balkans, implemented within the IATRUS residency programme, with the financial support of the National Culture Fund under the Creation 2026 programme.
